Tribal women were forced to do manual labour work in Udala until Mauna Dhwani Foundation started a training batch in 2021
5 km from nearest town Udala, the tribal women in Sunapal were mostly uneducated with no livelihood opportunities. Mauna Dhwani Foundation started a training batch at Sunapal with 35 women.
Now these women are self-sufficient and earning sufficient money to support their family members.
The project was supported by Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) to develop a full-fledged handloom weaving centre. Tribal women from more than 15 nearby villages joined the training. Some of them were so eager that they used to swim a big river to come to the production centre.
