After decades of being marginalized and living on the socio-economic fringes of society, four years ago, 21 women of the tribal village of Chuliaposi, Odisha took a pledge to change their destiny. They came forward to take the first step towards sustainable livelihood and living a life of dignity.

Facilitated by the Mauna Dhwani foundation, the women set forth to revive their weaving heritage and over the last three years have been training on weaving and natural dyeing.

Mauna Dhwani Foundation conceptualised introducing eco-friendly and sustainable office products along with the traditional handloom garments. Thus began a movement where more than a hundred women weavers from five neighbouring villages namely Chuliaposhi, Sunapal, Atanati, Astia and Bhandagan came together to form a co-operative. All of them are being trained on weaving and currently, 60 of them are actively engaged in the setting.

Every product at Tanta Gatha is crafted in a way that it will not harm Mother Earth and her grace and pristine glory will be preserved.

Our scarves are crafted with Ahimsa silk, also known as peace silk, cruelty-free silk and non-violent silk.

Conventionally, silk is harvested by steaming, boiling, or drying the cocoons in the sun, killing the silk larvae inside. According to PETA, 3,000 silkworms are killed to produce 1 pound of silk; 10,000 silkworms are killed to produce just 1 silk saree.

The Ahimsa silk we use is sourced from Assam and it’s produced and harvested non-violently without harming or killing any silkworms. WIld silk moths are bred allowing the silkworms to complete their metamorphosis to the moth stage, instead of killing them in the cocoon stage.

No animals suffer or die for the silk to be produced.

Our range of eco-friendly office products are crafted from cotton and jute yarn and after being woven it is termed as ‘juco’ weave. The symbols/motifs on the bag have been designed under the guidance and advice of the tribal community. All of these motifs are hand woven on the bag with every single colour made with azo-free eco-friendly dyes

With our craft manifested into these products, we stand with you, to help you in a manner that will preserve our planet for the generations to come.

Wishing all of you a truly blessed and inspirational journey ahead.

With Love and Hope
